At approximately 9:30-10:00 am, our chauffeur, accompanied by a knowledgeable Mumbai city tour guide, will arrive to commence your Mumbai trip. Your journey will begin by visiting one of the most significant landmarks in Mumbai, the majestic Gateway of India.
Constructed in 1924 at the Apollo Bunder, this stunning gateway was designed by the talented British architect George Wittet. Its intricate lattice work adds a touch of elegance to its already impressive appearance. Situated in front of this colossal structure is the splendid Taj Hotel, which further enhances the Gateway‘s allure.
As you continue your exploration of Mumbai, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya beckons, formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum. This treasure trove of art and artifacts boasts an invaluable collection of sculptures, numismatics, textiles, Chinese and Japanese antiquities, miniature paintings, European paintings, decorative art, allegorical paintings, and much more.
As the chauffeur will take you through the bustling city streets, you‘ll catch a glimpse of other must-see sights, such as the distinguished University of Bombay, the historic High Court of Bombay, and the vibrant Crawford Market.
Next, we‘ll take you to the serene Hanging Gardens, nestled atop the Malabar Hills, a luxurious residential area of Mumbai. Take in the breathtaking views and unwind in this tranquil oasis.
Finally, we‘ll take you to visit the esteemed Gandhi Memorial Museum, also known as Mani Bhavan, where you‘ll gain insight into the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi through a collection of precious artifacts and memorabilia. You‘ll also have the opportunity to visit the beautiful Jain Temple and experience the spiritual essence of Mumbai.
Our next stop is at Dhobi Ghat, the world‘s largest outdoor laundry. Here, skilled washermen, known as dhobis, and their families provide a remarkable service by collecting dirty laundry, cleaning it in boiling caustic soda, and returning it impeccably ironed using heavy wood-burning irons, all at an incredibly reasonable price. It‘s a sight to behold, and you can even capture these moments with your camera.
Following our visit to Dhobi Ghat, we will take a drive across the breathtaking Bandra-Worli Sea Link.
In the evening, around 4-5 PM, we will take you to Marine Drive, fondly referred to as the Queen‘s Necklace. Here, you can unwind and relish the refreshing sea breeze, with gentle water droplets caressing your face. As the day in Mumbai draws to a close, we will drop you back at your hotel, concluding your Mumbai sightseeing trip.
