Air India Airlines Baggage Policy

Baggage allowance for hand baggage and checked-in baggage varies:

The cabin baggage allowance is applicable for both Domestic and International travel.

• ECONOMY CLASS

Only 01 pieces of hand baggage having a maximum weight of 8 Kg is permitted.

• BUSINESS / FIRST CLASS

Hand baggage allowance for First and Business Class - 01 pieces not exceeding 12 Kg.

Check - in baggage allowance is between 10kgs - 40kgs, depending on the cabin class, internationally and domestic both.

• Gold Member of Star Alliance would continue to be permitted an additional 20Kgs of baggage allowance in Economy Class
• Members of Premium Club and Flying Returns members would continue to be permitted additional baggage, as notified from time to time, over the same.
• Infants will be entitled to 1 collapsible stroller/carrycot/infant car seat.
• The maximum weight permissible for a single part of baggage is 32 kgs. This rule is applicable on the entire Air India group.
• Passenger who are reliant on a wheelchair and are travelling with such equipment would be permitted to an added baggage allowance up to 15 kg free of charge subject to the limitations of the aircraft as per DGCA guidelines. Passengers can carry their personal wheelchairs only if they are easily dismantled.

Baggage Tips

• Know the latest restrictions on carriage of assured items whether in hand bag or in check-in bag.
• Don`t pack any valuables in your checked baggage.
• Label your bags correctly with your name and address and eliminate tags and labels left over from previous flights.
• Keep all bags including handbags locked at all times, and be attentive.
• Do not accept any packets from unknown persons.
• Do not leave baggage unobserved at any time, especially within airport area.
• Unattended baggage may be removed by Airport Security Staff as an object of suspicion.
• Make sure you proclaim before checking-in, if carrying any arms or explosive substances. As it is an offence under the airliner Act and Rules.
• Before forthcoming the check-in counters, you may be required to pass all your pieces of baggage to be checked in through the X-ray machines operated by security personnel.
• Make sure you take medication, important documents, valuable items and cash in your hand baggage for admission and control.
• For travel to and within US, please use Transport and Security Administration (TSA) submissive locks.

Air India Airlines Cancellation Policy

Cancellation of booking: Once you make your Air India airlines online booking and you have to cancel your tickets, the cancellation appeal for bookings made online will be processed automatically through the Internet Booking Engine. Any refunds due will be processed by the engine in conformation with the appropriate cancellation policy.

If the booking has not been made online, please contact any AIRINDIA office to cancel your reservation. Tickets will be refunded by the ticket issuing office only.

The refund of a ticket issued by a Travel Agent will be processed by the issuing Travel Agent only.

Ticket refund: You can submit a ticket for a refund, for 3 Months from the expiry of ticket validity. The refund would be processed matter of the fare limitations of the ticket. If the payment has been done in cash, a cheque with the refund amount is sent to the address of the customer. If the payment has been made by credit/debit card, then the amount is credited back to the same credit card account. The refund cannot be processed to an alternate card account. The transfer to any other card account if required would have to be requested by you to your card issuing bank only. If the payment is made by direct debit-bank transfer, the amount would be credited back to the same bank account that it was debited from.
