How to do web check-in

Things you need to know about web check-in

Nowadays, most travellers are accustomed to web check-in. Web check-in is a breakthrough that benefits all passengers as airlines work to simplify processes and ease travel. The majority of airline websites have a "Web Check In" or "Check In" tab on their home page. Web check-in allows you to choose your seats and print boarding passes while sitting at home. Your boarding pass's bar code contains the reservation details. You can proceed directly to the security checkpoint area once you arrive at the airport, then proceed to the gate and board the airplane.

  • For domestic flights, web check-in opens 24 - 48 hours before planned departure and shuts 60 minutes before scheduled departure.
  • For international flights, web check-in opens 96 hours before departure and shuts 120 minutes prior.

Steps to follow for web check-in:

  • Visit the airline’s website to check in online.
  • To complete the check-in, enter your booking reference or PNR and your surname.
  • After that, you can select your seat. When the seat has been selected and confirmed an e-boarding pass will be issued.

If you simply have carry-on luggage, you can go straight to the security check but you have to go to your airline's counter if you have luggage that needs to be checked. Most airlines will offer a separate baggage drop area for travellers who checked in online.

For domestic travel:

  • Through Web check-in, your allocated seat cannot be cancelled.
  • If you have check-in luggage, please arrive at the baggage drop counter at least 75 minutes before the flight's departure time. At the same time, you have to show your photo ID.
  • You must arrive at the boarding gate with a valid ID at least 25 minutes before the aircraft takes off. If you show up after the boarding gate has closed, your ticket will be subject to the fare regulations' No-Show policy.
  • You can collect the printed copy of your boarding pass by providing a valid id proof 90 minutes prior to the flight departure.

For international travel:

  • Through Web check-in, your allocated seat cannot be cancelled.
  • A Passport must be shown at the boarding gate at least 40 minutes before the flight takes off. If you arrive after the boarding gate has closed, your ticket will be subject to the fare regulations' No-Show policy.
  • Arrive at the baggage drop counter at least 120 minutes before the flight's departure if you have checked your bags. At the desk, you must show both a valid passport and visa.
  • If you don't have a printed copy of your boarding pass with you, you may get one from the check-in desk by showing a valid passport and visa there, at least 60 minutes before the aircraft is scheduled to depart.
