Our representative will pick you up from the hotel between 13:30-14:00 for the day trip to Cochin.
The same-day trip to Cochin will begin with a visit to the oldest Jewish synagogue in India—the Paradesi Synagogue which is built close to the Mattancherry Palace. Inside the building, you will spot rare antiques, a huge glass chandelier, and ceramic tiles from China.
Next, we will visit the St. Francis Church, built by the Portuguese in 1503. The church was rebuilt by the Portuguese in 1516 and also by the Dutch in 1886. The church was an initial burial place for Vasco Da Gama and his body was later moved to Lisbon. The church also has old records of the ancestors of the Dutch. Next stop in your Cochin day tour package will be the Dutch Palace which was built by the Portuguese. Also known as Mattancherry Palace, its flooring is made up of a concoction of lime, plant juices, egg whites, and burnt coconut shells that are similar to black marble. One can find mythological mural paintings and a collection of royal antiques in the interiors of the palace.
After this, we will visit the Indo-Portuguese Museum, which demonstrates the artist and archaic influence of Portuguese. The museum showcases sculptures and other objects from antiquity. Next, we will take you to the sight of the Chinese Fishing Nets, which are made up of bamboo poles and teak wood.
After exploring the history and traditions of the city, we will also help you see the famous art form of Kerala—the Kathakali dance. This dance form is well known for the vibrant costumes, eccentric makeup, and bold and beautiful expressions. The play performed by the dancers is based on the Hindu epics and Puranas.
After you have enjoyed the dance performance, we will take you to dinner at a local restaurant. With this, your Cochin same-day tour will come to an end and our chauffeur will drop you back to the hotel.
