Mukteswara Temple
As your tour begins at 8-8:30 in the morning, our driver will pick you up from your hotel or airport in Bhubaneswar and take you on a memorable temple tour. Visiting the ancient shrines dedicated to Hindu deities is one of the most popular things to do in Bhubaneswar. First on the list is the Mukteswara Temple. This 10th-century temple is a masterpiece of the Kalinga style of architecture. Its sculptures and carvings depict stories of Panchatantra and offer a unique experience to travelers.
Shree Parasurameswara Temple
At just a 140-meter distance from the Mukteswara Temple is the next site—the ancient Parasurameswara Temple built in 650 AD. Showcasing the marvelous Oriyan style of architecture, this temple is known for its beautifully carved Lord Ganesha, Shiva, and Goddess Parvati imagery. Head to the north-west corner of the temple premises, and you will see 1,000 Shiva lingas, which is a popular attraction.
Kedar Gauri Temple
At a very short walking distance from the Parasurameswara Temple lies the Kedar Gauri Temple. One of the eight Astasambhu temples famous for pilgrimage tours, this place is renowned for the annual procession celebrating the marriage of Shiva and Parvati. Dedicated to the couple, the temple is a divine symbol of love and devotion.
Ananta Vasudeva Temple
Situated about a kilometer from the Kedar Gauri Temple, the Ananta Vasudeva Temple is among the few temples dedicated to the incarnations of Vishnu in Bhubaneswar. If you want to seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, this is the place for you. Known for its eye-catching Kalinga style of architecture, the temple is also popular for its scenic nature owing to its proximity to the Bindu Sarovar. However, non-Hindus and foreigners are prohibited from entering the temple, so be mindful.
Lingaraja Temple
Walk for approximately 230 meters from the Anant Vasudeva Temple, and you will reach arguably the most sought-after pilgrimage location of Odisha—the Lingaraja Temple. One thing to note about a trip to Lingaraja Temple is that the temple can only be entered by Hindus as entry to people of all other religions is prohibited here. The largest temple in Bhubaneswar, it is a greatly revered site as it is believed that the Shiva linga present here appeared naturally.
Konark Temple
After visiting the iconic Lingaraja Temple, we will take you to one of the most magnificent places to visit near Bhubaneswar—the Konark Sun Temple. The temple is at a distance of about 60 km from the Lingaraja Temple which will take you nearly 1.5 hours to reach. Built as a chariot with 24 wheels and 7 horses, the temple is also known as Black Pagoda and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Although partially damaged, the intricate carvings about daily life, erotic art, and mythology add a unique charm to the colossal structure. After you complete the Konark Sun Temple tour, our driver will drop you back at your hotel or airport in Bhubaneswar, and your trip will come to an end.
Note: Only Hindus are allowed entry into the Lingaraja and Ananta Vasudeva Temple. Non-Hindus and foreigners can enjoy an external view of the temples.
